The immediate past Chairman of Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, has highlighted three major achievements recorded during his tenure, describing them as some of the key milestones of his administration.

Nnani stated this on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, after formally handing over the administration of the Council to the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS) of the Local Government.

According to him, his administration focused on projects and initiatives that would have lasting impact on the people and development of Oguta Local Government Area.

He identified the recovery and development of the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout, perimeter fencing of the Council Headquarters, and reconstruction, furnish of the major administrative block as his three cardinal achievements.

On the recovery of the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout, Nnani said the expansive parcel of government land had been recovered and properly parcellated at a cost of over N100 million.

He explained that the exercise was aimed at protecting government property and ensuring proper development and utilisation of the land.

The former Chairman recalled that the former Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, had earlier inspected the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout in company of officials from the Ministry of Lands, Imo State.

Nnani said the inspection team commended the efforts of his administration in recovering and developing the government property.

He further disclosed that his administration also embarked on the perimeter fencing of the Oguta Local Government Council Headquarters, describing it as a landmark project which, according to him, had not previously been undertaken by any chairman of the Council.

Another major achievement, he said, was the reconstruction of the major administrative block of the Council, which he said was undertaken to improve the working environment and enhance effective administration.

Nnani also listed massive grading and rehabilitation of roads across the Local Government, including roads in Agwa, among the interventions carried out by his administration.

He explained that the recovery of the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout received sustained attention, noting that the Chairman of the Land Recovery Committee, Hon. Modestus Nwamkpa, and officials of the Imo Housing Corporation made several visits to Oguta over a period of more than three months in connection with the exercise.

The former Chairman further recalled that the people of Oguta had, during a needs assessment meeting held at the Local Government Headquarters and attended by representatives from the 11 wards in the area, demanded the reconstruction of the Agwa/Ejemekwuru Road and the fencing of the Council Headquarters.

According to him, his administration responded by carrying out remedial work on the Agwa Road before the expiration of his tenure.

He, however, expressed optimism that the people of the area would soon benefit from a more comprehensive intervention, following the award of the Agwa/Ejemekwuru Road project by the State Government for immediate reconstruction.

Nnani also said that his administration placed emphasis on maintaining peace and stability in Oguta, noting that efforts were made to restore peace and strengthen unity among the people of the local government.

He used the occasion to express appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Oguta.

Nnani thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in him and pledged his continued support for programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare and development of the people of Oguta and Imo State.

He also expressed appreciation to the people of Oguta, members of his administration and other stakeholders who contributed to the achievements recorded during his tenure.
