A coalition of youths under the aegis of Concerned Okigwe Youths, led by Hon. Ndubuisi Collins Ogaraku, has dismissed claims that key stakeholders in Okigwe Zone are rallying support for Hon. Miriam Onuoha ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.

In a strongly worded statement, the group described such reports as “misleading and unrepresentative” of the prevailing political sentiment across Okigwe North Federal Constituency.

The youths argued that the principle of equity and rotational representation should guide the choice of the next occupant of the Green Chamber seat, insisting that Onuimo Local Government Area is due to produce the next member of the House of Representatives.

According to the statement, major blocs within the constituency—including socio-political groups,ChiefOk2000, women’s associations, and youth organizations—are aligned on the need to shift the seat to Onuimo, noting that Isiala Mbano and Okigwe Local Government Areas have already had their turns.

The group further expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Miriam Onuoha, stating that “no reasonable stakeholder” would support her return bid.

“We categorically state that the time has come for Onuimo to take its rightful place in the representation of Okigwe North at the federal level,” the statement read. “The demand for fairness, balance, and inclusiveness cannot be ignored.”

Highlighting possible contenders from Onuimo, the group pointed to Hon. Dr. James Ubah Esile(Fresh Air), the current representative of Onuimo State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, as a credible option with the capacity to effectively represent the constituency at the national level.

The statement concluded with a call on political stakeholders to respect the zoning arrangement and prioritize unity and equitable representation as the 2027 elections approach.
