The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside top government officials, party leaders, and dignitaries, is expected to attend the burial ceremony of Late Ezinna Bartholomew Nwachukwu Akano, father of the South East Special Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Dr. Stanley Chinedu Nwachukwu.


According to a statement signed by Dr. Nwachukwu, the elder statesman passed away at the age of 83.


The burial rites have been scheduled as follows:


A Christian wake-keep will hold on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the late Ezinna Bartholomew Nwachukwu Akano’s compound in Umuduru Umudioka-Ukwu, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.


On Friday, January 9, 2026, the body will depart the hospital mortuary at 7:30 a.m. for his hometown. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Umudioka-Ukwu, after which interment and reception will follow at the Nwachukwu family compound.


A thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Umudioka-Ukwu.


The family prays for the peaceful repose of his soul.
