 Uzodimma Fulfilling Campaign Promises, Says Amadioha Ngor-Okpala as NDDC Flags Off Road Rehabilitation

The ISOPADEC Commissioner  representing Owerri Zone,High  Chief Val Okere, popularly known as Amadioha Ngor-Okpala, has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for fulfilling key campaign promises with the rehabilitation of the Ihitte/Umuakabia/Umuneke Road in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.


High Chief Okere who is also the  Commission's Chairman of Committee on Agriculture and Fishery made the remarks on Tuesday during the official flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Ihitte–Umuakabia–Umuneke–Ngor-Okpala LGA Headquarters Road.


He recalled pledging massive electoral support for Governor Uzodimma’s re-election in 2023, expressing satisfaction that the governor has reciprocated by initiating critical infrastructure projects in the area.


“Today’s event is evidence that His Excellency keeps his promises. We are proud of the developmental strides recorded under his administration,” Okere stated.


While reaffirming the community’s continued support for the governor, the political leader appealed for the declaration of emergency intervention on other key economic roads within the council area.


He also described the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ngor-Okpala as “an indivisible family,” thanking stakeholders including the Commissioner for Lands, Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, and APC Apex Leader in the area, Okenze Sylvester Obinna, for their efforts in facilitating the project


Speaking at the ceremony, the Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, disclosed that the road rehabilitation is being executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and awarded to Roudo Nigeria Limited.


Onuegbu noted that Ngor-Okpala has benefitted significantly from Governor Uzodimma’s administration, highlighting that the local government currently has four commissioners serving in the state executive council under the governor’s 3R agenda.


Similarly, APC Apex Leader Okenze Sylvester Obinna expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Ngor-Okpala, describing the governor as a leader committed to inclusive development.


The Executive Chairman of Ngor-Okpala LGA, Mrs. Chika Ibekwe, assured contractors of adequate security to ensure smooth execution of the project.


In his site handover address, the State Director of the NDDC described the emergency rehabilitation of the Umuneke–Umueme Ochicha Obike (Lot 1 & Lot 3) Road Project as a milestone in efforts to enhance mobility and socio-economic development in the area.


He emphasized the strategic importance of road infrastructure in connecting communities to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and economic opportunities.


“This project is not just about construction; it is an investment in the future of this community. When completed, it will reduce travel time, improve safety, and stimulate business growth,” he said.


The Director commended the Managing Director/CEO of the NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, for prioritizing the project and urged contractors to adhere strictly to quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.


He also called on residents to cooperate with contractors and protect the project as a shared community asset.


The Manager of Roudo Nigeria Ltd, Engr. Henry Iyoha, assured stakeholders that the project would be completed within four months.


The rehabilitation is expected to significantly improve access to the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Headquarters and surrounding communities, boosting commercial activities and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
