Independence: Ebonyi Deserves More, Will Rise Again – Dr. Odii

Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has urged Ebonyians to embrace unity, hope, and resilience as Nigeria marks 65 years of independence and the state celebrates 29 years of creation.

In a statement on Wednesday, Odii said the anniversaries should be more than a celebration, but also “a moment of deep reflection” on the nation’s struggles with poverty, unemployment, poor healthcare, and gaps in leadership.

Speaking as “a brother, son, and partner in progress,” the PDP chieftain lamented the plight of farmers unable to maximize the state’s fertile lands, unemployed youths, children denied quality education, and families battling economic hardship.

“Ebonyi deserves more, and Ebonyi will rise,” Odii declared, stressing that true independence goes beyond colonial freedom to overcoming internal setbacks and building a brighter future.

He cautioned against “savagely scavenging politicians who sweet-mouth the people in fear of opposition,” urging Ebonyians to take ownership of their destiny and make wise choices when the time comes.

Reaffirming his conviction that the state’s resources could be turned into prosperity and dignity for every household, Odii prayed for peace and progress in Ebonyi State and Nigeria.
