OGUTA LGA LAND RECOVERY COMMITTEE BEGINS ACTION AT ORURU/EGWE GOVERNMENT STATION LAYOUT

By Kelechi Ugo

In a decisive move to reclaim government-owned land, the Executive Chairman of Oguta Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, alongside the Oguta Land Recovery Committee, led by Hon. Sir Modestus Chinedu Nwamkpa Modestus (Special Adviser to the Governor on Print/Media), commenced a major land recovery exercise at the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout.

The layout, initially designed by the Imo State Housing Corporation, Owerri, comprises over 500 plots intended for structured public use and development for the benefit of the people of Oguta. However, to the dismay of the current leadership, a significant portion of this land has reportedly been illegally sold or occupied by unknown individuals believed to be land grabbers.

This action follows the directive of the Executive Governor of Imo StateHis Excellency, Most Distinguished Senator Dr. Hope Odidika Uzodimma, who has mandated all 27 LGA Chairmen to recover government lands unlawfully taken over. This is in line with the Governor’s 3R mantra – Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery – aimed at restoring order, accountability, and proper land use across the state.

The Land Recovery Committee is now calling on all well-meaning indigenes and residents of Oguta, especially those who have purchased or developed property within the Oruru/Egwe Government Station Layout, to immediately contact the Committee or the Office of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, before demolition and enforcement operations begin.

This initiative underscores the government's commitment to restoring due process and ensuring that public assets are preserved for the benefit of all.
