Archbishop Joshua Imoh Condemns Bad Governance, Advocates for Owerri Zone Governorship in 2027
As Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria Holds Stakeholders meeting

The South East Zonal Leader of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Archbishop Joshua Robert Imoh, has vehemently condemned the persistent bad leadership in Nigeria. He strongly insisted that the next governor of Imo State in 2027 should come from the Owerri Zone, emphasizing the need for equity, justice, and fairness in political representation.
Speaking during the stakeholders meeting of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria held in Owerri on Saturday, 26th July 2025, Archbishop Imoh—who is also the General Overseer of Freedom Faith Assembly Inc., popularly known as Jesus Arena—declared the Conference’s readiness to oppose any unsuitable candidates attempting to occupy political offices in the forthcoming general elections.
Archbishop Imoh stressed that since 1999, the governorship of Imo State has alternated between the Orlu and Okigwe Zones, and that Owerri Zone deserves its turn to produce the governor. He urged the electorate to vote for a God-fearing individual from Owerri Zone to lead the state in 2027.
He said, “The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria is a coalition of colleges of Bishops united to amplify the voice of churches against bad governance in Nigeria. I am grateful for my appointment as the South East Zonal Leader of Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria on June 13th, 2024, overseeing more than 700 Bishops across the five states of the South East Geopolitical Zone.”
Archbishop Imoh continued, “We have convened not just to pray, but to actively lead a movement and campaign against bad leadership. Everyone knows that the major challenge Nigeria faces is poor governance. Despite Nigeria’s vast natural resources and blessings from God, our people continue to suffer from hunger, unreliable electricity, and poor road infrastructure even in the 21st century.”
He lamented the worsening social conditions, stating, “Some women have resorted to desperate measures, selling themselves for as little as ten thousand naira per night. What used to be prayer points in Nigeria are no longer problem in developed countries".
The Archbishop revealed plans by the Conference to back candidates of impeccable character in the 2027 elections. “We will support Godly candidates and resist those who are not fit to lead. We are organizing debates where candidates will present their manifestos for public scrutiny.”
Adding his voice, Dr. Uche Abba expressed optimism that the unity of the Bishops would contribute significantly to Nigeria’s progress and greatness.
The meeting culminated in the inauguration of Local Government Officers of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, marking a step forward in their commitment to positive political engagement.
