Mbaitoli Deepens Grassroots Security Strategy with Police–Community Summit

In a coordinated effort to strengthen grassroots security, the Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo,has led a high-level stakeholders’ security summit in partnership with the , Imo State Command.
The summit, held at the Mbaitoli LGA Council Hall, brought together security authorities, political leaders, and community representatives in what officials described as a strategic step toward improving collaboration and proactive crime prevention.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Bosso, attended with senior officers, including the Area Commander for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru and Divisional Police Officers from Nwaorieubi, Iho, Orji, and Mbieri. Participants also included traditional rulers, legislative members, women and youth leaders, market representatives, and clergy.
Proceedings opened with prayers and the traditional breaking of kola nut, underscoring cultural unity. Formal introductions were coordinated by Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Henry Okoye , reflecting a broad-based institutional and community presence.
In his address, Nwanegwo commended the police leadership for what he described as improved professionalism and growing public trust in security operations. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between government, security agencies, and local communities.
The Chairman also acknowledged the support of Imo State Governor, Distinguished,Senator Hope Uzodimma, highlighting initiatives such as the Imo Vigilante Organization as critical complements to formal policing structures.
In a goodwill message, Mbaitoli apex leader,praised the proactive stance of the police command, noting early signs of impact across the State.
The summit’s central feature was the Commissioner’s lecture titled “Strengthening Community Vigilance for Proactive Crime Prevention.” Bosso outlined emerging security challenges and stressed the importance of intelligence-sharing, citizen participation, and coordinated response systems.
The interactive session allowed stakeholders to raise concerns ranging from community safety to market and worship center security. The police chief addressed several issues on the spot and assured prompt attention to others.
The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment to partnership among all stakeholders, signaling a more integrated approach to safeguarding lives and property in Mbaitoli and surrounding communities.
