In appreciation for their outstanding service to God and humanity , 

The adage " honour is given to whom Honour is due " played out on Sunday 12th April 2026 at St.Mathias Anglican Church Nkwesi , Oguta Local Governing Area of Imo State as  Chief Sir. Kingsley  Ugochukwu Okoroafor ( Nnukwu Ihe Oguta)   was  confered with  the  most cherished   NEHEMIAH Award, ( the  highest award in the  Diocese),    alongside with his Late Dad , Sir.Mark Chijioke Okoroafor  who also bagged a POSTHUMOUS appreciation  award  courtesy of  His Lordship, Rt.Rev Chijioke B.N Oti Ph.D (JP) Bishop On the Lake and his amiable wife Mrs Ijeoma P. Oti, MA (JP) .



The award ceremony which  took place during  the thanksgiving service of the  first session of the 7th Synod of the Diocese of the lake, attracted Church faithful , family friends , wellwishers and captain of industries who where on ground to witness the historic event. 


 .Interracting with news men  after the event Chief Sir Kingsley Okoroafor disclosed that the recognitions was as a  result of their   unquantifiable passion in  encouraging God's work and serving humanity with love,


He  expressed happiness that the good work of the Okoroafor's family is being  recognised and appreciated  by the church. He thanked the  Lord Bishop  for finding him and his Dad worthy for the award.


Speaking further , Chief Sir Kingsley  Okoroafor also  expressed deep gratitudes to the church leadership and members, he described the award as humbling and  encouraging, he  maintained that the honour given to him will also serve as a source of  inspiration and encouragement  for  him to continue dedicating his life to the service of God and humanity .


Chief Sir  Kingsley  Okoroafor reaffirmed his Unwavering commitment to supporting the church and promote moral and spiritual Development in the church and within the  society.


Chief Sir Kingsley  Okoroafor also appreciated the church for it's vital role in shaping moral values and remaining a pillar of faith.


Admonishing christians, Bishop of the Lake Rt.Rev Chijioke B.N Oti, Ph.D (JP)  who spoke in line with the theme : "Walking in His Steps:Rediscovering the humility of Christ in today's church, Philippians 2:5-11" stressed on the need for Christians to be Christlike . He described the year's synod as the best since ever in the Diocese of the lake .


Also in his sermon the Bishop of Ndokwa Diocese who came all the way from Delta State to officiate  at  the synod,  Bishop Festus Nwafili  also gave a brief incite on  the theme ,  he said " Any one who want to follow Jesus Christ must let go of pride , learn to live a life of sacrifice" he admonished.



Meanwhile, Rev. Harrison Anderson Resident Priest and Anglican  Vicar of  Abiaziem Parish and other  church leaders from Abiaziem  community  (the homestead ) of  Chief Sir Kingsley  Okoroafor who spoke with our reporter

on the  special occasion of the Synod of the Diocese of the Lake described Chief Okoroafor as a man of exceptional virtue , loved by his people due to his  humility and  generiousity , noting that his  lifestyle reflects the through essence of fatherhood and Christian  service , they reiterated  that his numerous humanitarian guestures , dedication to the welfare of the church and Community advancement made him eminently deserving of the Nehemiah award.


The vicar of St. Mathias Angiican church Nkwesi Rev Kenneth Okparaeke expressed happiness for a successful hosting , He revealedthat Synod is a time to brainstorm and chart a way forward in the Anglican Communion as he seized the platform to congratulate the deserving awardees.



In her felicitation message , wife of the receipient Lady Engr. Chidinma Geraldine Kingsley who felt so elated said" I sincerely thank my Lord Bishop by  for honouring my Husband. This award will encourage him the more to serving God and humanity" she submitted.


The Local Organizing committee chairman Mr.Nkem Olisa Udom thanked God for a successful outing , he  described the theme of the year's  synod as and apt one  considering the time and circumstances,  which according to him examplified the life of Christ , he emphersized that  the theme will impact positively into the lives of Christians.


 He said the theme will also serve as a  reminder for Christians  to rededicate their lives to God. 




The highlight of the event  showcased the cutting of the synod cake ,  the  handing  over of synod  flag to the next host  St. Stephen's Anglican Church Akabo as announced by   Rt. Rev.Bishop Oti , As Oguta emerged  the winner of the Synod trophy for the yeas 2026
