The lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, has urged the House of Representatives to compel contractors to immediately return to site on the abandoned Abakaliki–Ikwo–Oferekpe–Obubara Roads.

Raising a Motion of Urgent Public Importance, Ogah decried the abandonment of the project—now under Federal Government control—warning that it has already claimed over 25 lives, fueled insecurity, and paralysed economic activities in the area.

He described the road as a major national corridor turned into a deadly trap and insisted that the Federal Ministry of Works must act swiftly.

The House observed a minute’s silence for victims and tasked its Committees on Works and Legislative Compliance to ensure full contractor remobilization and strict monitoring.

Ogah also commended Governor Francis Nwifuru and Works Minister Sen. David Umahi for their continued commitment to road development in Ebonyi State and across the country.
