Senator Hope Uzodinma, Imo state governor together with CP Aboki Danjuma have expressed satisfaction with the transformative Headship of Acp Ola Odeyeyiwa in the anti kidnapping unit of Nigerian Police Force in Owerri.


The governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie who joined the Imo state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, and other dignitaries to unveiled  the newly reconstructed Anti-Kidnapping Unit (Tiger Base) Office in Owerri scored positive points of success in transformative governance.

The reconstruction, initiated and executed by the Commander of the Unit, ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa,symbolized global innovations in the reformative agenda of the Imo State Police Command aimed at promoting professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.


The features  in the Tiger base of the Imo Police Command houses conducive  administrative, investigative, and legal offices, as well as a Human Rights Desks, Intelligence and Interrogation Rooms, as well as other operational departments. The facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art furniture, water closets, Semi-bedrooms for suspects comforts ,computers, and communication gadgets designed to enhance coordination, transparency, and service delivery.

Significantly the investigation rooms are fitted with CCTV cameras and digital systems to promote evidence-based  transparent investigative processes.


The governor as represented by Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie praised ACP Odeyeyiwa for his commitment and innovative leadership stating that  the reconstruction aligns with the state government’s vision of strengthening the operational efficiency of security agencies. He charged Imo citizens to shun crime, emphasizing that “the police station is not a  home but a place of correction.”


There were representations from the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, the Council of Imo Traditional Rulers, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Owerri Branch, and community leaders who commended Acp Odeyeyiwa for transforming the Unit into a model of efficiency and professionalism.

Barrister Ihentuge Chris ,Owerri NBA chairman expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and ACP Odeyeyiwa for establishing a dedicated Human Rights Desk within the facility.He  expressed optimism that the initiative would facilitate quicker legal interventions and strengthen the protection of citizens’ rights.Chief Ihentuge urged the police to maintain their interface with Lawyers for efficient synergy. Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, Imo NUJ chairman in his own goodwill message lauded the anti kidnap unit and the CP for working assiduously with government in stamping out crime . He assured that Journalists in the to state would always ensure balanced reportage of events and issues. 


 CP Aboki Danjuma in his address earlier thanked governor Uzodimma for his unwavering support to security agencies. He paid glowing tributes to the  Inspector-General of Police for his reform-driven leadership. He urged officers to remain steadfast in combating violent crimes while upholding justice, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. The Imo CP also admonished  criminals in the state to embrace the Governor’s amnesty program by  laying  down their arms, and embrace  peace and development.
