...Says Dis & Dat Int’l Hotel is Not a Brothel, Demands Governor Uzodimma’s Intervention

A prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East, Hon. Stanley Nwachukwu, has raised an alarm following the demolition of his hotel, Dis & Dat International Hotel, by the Imo State Government.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that three brothels were demolished near the recently commissioned Control–Assumpta Twin Flyover, Hon. Nwachukwu insisted that his establishment is not a brothel, but a fully registered hospitality business.

Speaking in a phone interview with journalists shortly after the incident, Hon. Nwachukwu expressed deep dismay, stating that the action was based on misinformation and has caused him tremendous financial and emotional distress.

“My hotel is not a brothel. It is a duly registered hospitality business with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and has never been associated with any form of criminal activity,” he clarified.

According to him, the destruction of his hotel—valued at over ₦70 million—has rendered more than 26 staff members unemployed, while he continues to grapple with the trauma of the loss.

“I am currently battling high blood pressure due to the psychological and financial impact of this incident. This was a legitimate business that followed all legal protocols and contributed to the local economy,” he lamented.

Hon. Nwachukwu, a self-described loyal APC stakeholder and supporter of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Shared Prosperity Government, appealed to the governor to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding the demolition and offer appropriate compensation.

“I have always stood by this administration, both in Imo State and at the national level. I am pleading with His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, to intervene in this matter. I deserve justice for what has happened,” he said.

Clarifying the meaning behind the hotel’s name, he explained that Dis & Dat stands for Disability and Destitute—a reflection of the hotel’s founding vision to support vulnerable members of society.

“The hotel was not only a business but also a platform to support persons living with disabilities and homeless individuals. That was the heart behind the name,” he stated.

He also disclosed that the hotel had robust security infrastructure, including 15 CCTV cameras, and had never recorded any criminal incidents since it began operations.

Calling the demolition a "misguided and misinformed act," Hon. Nwachukwu urged the state government to conduct a thorough review of the decision and hold accountable those who acted without proper verification.

The Imo State Government has yet to issue an official statement addressing the specific claims made by Hon. Nwachukwu. Efforts to reach the relevant authorities for comments were ongoing at press time.
