The Imo State Police Command has assured residents of a secure and peaceful environment ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the state on Tuesday, September 30.

In a statement released on Monday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the Police announced that comprehensive security measures have been put in place in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free presidential visit.

According to the statement, security personnel have been strategically deployed across key areas, including all entry and exit points into the state, major routes from Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport to Owerri metropolis, and other Local Government Areas where the President is expected to engage.

The Command disclosed that "route lining and robust security coverage" have been activated at all venues designated for the presidential engagements. In addition, Operation Show of Force and high-visibility patrols are being conducted across the state’s three senatorial districts to deter criminal activity and reassure the public of their safety.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in partnership with the Police, has also deployed traffic wardens to manage expected traffic congestion within Owerri and other strategic locations, ensuring free movement throughout the visit.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperative, assuring the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to maintain order throughout the President’s stay.

“The Command strongly warns all criminally minded elements against any attempt to disrupt the peace, as security forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any threat,” the statement added.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious movements or persons to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact lines.

President Tinubu’s visit is expected to include several high-level engagements and stakeholder meetings in the state.
