The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has honoured Chief Emmanuel Chigozie Chikaelo, a respected legal practitioner, for his resilience, service, and unwavering commitment to the progress of society.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award during the party’s Annual Political Conference and Summit, held on Friday at the Okwadike Event Center, Vanessa Hotel, Owerri, Chief Chikaelo expressed deep gratitude for the recognition.
“I am very grateful and happy today. I dedicate this award to freedom and to God Almighty. I pray that as God has sanctioned this journey, He will continue to direct all of us,” he said.
The conference also featured a keynote address by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who spoke extensively on the principles of effective leadership and active followership. He described leadership as a duty that requires thoughtfulness, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to him, “A reasonable leader thinks twice, has boundaries, chooses words carefully, and prioritizes the progress and well-being of the common man. I believe the SDP is positioned to take over the government, whether through a coalition or otherwise.”
Chief Chikaelo further urged Nigerians to prepare for the forthcoming continuous voter registration exercise. He emphasized the importance of active participation in the democratic process, calling on citizens to register, vote, and remain at polling stations to ensure their votes count.
The event was attended by party stakeholders, political leaders, and supporters who described the honour as well-deserved recognition of Chief Chikaelo’s contributions to both law and public service.
