2027: Owerri Zone Will Produce Next Imo Governor – Udo Agoha

By Ikenna Orioha

Former Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Udo Agoha, has declared that the Owerri Zone is poised to produce the next Governor of Imo State in 2027. He emphasized that this move would reinforce political equity and balance in the state, particularly regarding the governorship seat at Douglas House.

Agoha made this statement while addressing members of the Imo Advocacy for Good Governance (IMAGG) during a solidarity rally held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, on Saturday. Representing the National Leader of IMAGG, Chief Osita Opara, Agoha stressed that the Owerri Zone is home to competent, God-fearing, and development-driven individuals who are capable of restoring the state's lost dignity and democratic values.

He lamented the current socio-economic and infrastructural challenges facing Imo residents, noting that the state requires visionary and people-oriented leadership to address its many issues.

“Owerri Zone has qualified, lettered, and human capital–driven leaders who can rebuild Imo, return its lost glory, and address the pressing needs of our people,” he said.

Calling for broader support, Agoha urged the Okigwe and Orlu Zones to back Owerri Zone’s bid for the 2027 governorship. He underscored the importance of upholding the principles of fairness and equity in the political landscape of Imo State.

“We supported Okigwe and Orlu Zones in the past, and now it is only just that they reciprocate. For good governance and balanced politics to thrive in Imo, the Charter of Equity must be respected and upheld,” Agoha reiterated.

He assured that IMAGG is fully aligned with Chief Osita Opara’s vision and is ready to protect their votes to prevent electoral malpractice.

“We are here in full solidarity with our principal. IMAGG has a clear direction for 2027, and we are committed to ensuring that our votes count,” he concluded.
