As the 2027 elections period continue to gain momentum , a political heavy weight from Owerri West , Hon.Uche Asoluka Jnr. who contested for the NDC. Primaries Last Friday has emerged as the House of Representatives Candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency.
Though the fallout of the election process has been faulted by some NDC party Stalwarts, their argument is anchored on change of venue and wrong Timing ,
Hon.Asoluka's emergence has , been described by supporters and political observers as a significant development, considering his years of positive contributions to community development, and grassroots engagements across the constituency.

According to some persons ,the election process was alledged to have been marred with conflicting interest and controversies " According to the source who craved for anonymousity ," .
" The primary election was originally scheduled to hold on May 28 and 29, 2026, at the following officially designated venues:
Owerri Municipal LGA Office, located within the Owerri Municipal Council Secretariat Complex along Wetheral Road.
Owerri West local government Office, situated at the Owerri West Local Government Secretariat in Umuguma.
However, some party members alleged that the election venue was later moved to Baptist Primary School, Obinze, Owerri West, a location they claimed differed from the previously communicated venues.
Allegations of Night-Time Election
Further reports indicated that some NDC members expressed concern over the sudden change of venue communicated on May 28, 2026.
Party members were reportedly informed that the election had been postponed to May 29 due to the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. However, NDC party officials at the state chairman office MCC road party office later alleged that an election process had taken place during the night between approximately 9:00 p.m. and midnight of May 28th with a winner allegedly declared before the officially scheduled date.
These claims are verified by Hon. uchenna Asoluka Jnr, DG and legal adviser. Chief Barr. Cynthia Nnamdi at the time of filing this report."
Hon. Asoluka expressed profound appreciation to NDC Party members who came out massively to support him in the 3 local government locations on 29th May 2026.
He extended his warm gratitudes to his esteemed supporters, and members of his political structure , for their unwavering support, commitment, and steadfastness throughout the process. He enjoined NDC Stalwarts to disengage from election irregularities, viz; imposition of candidates , godfatherism.
Hon.Asoluka also assured that with transparency , equity and fairness as his watchword Owerri Federal Constituency will Soar higher , if he is given the opportunity to serve , he reiterated that the victory was not for him alone, but for the people of Owerri Federal Constituency who desire quality representation, purposeful leadership, and people-oriented governance.
Hon. Asoluka promised the constituents that he remains committed to delivering effective representation, youth empowerment, community development, and policies that would positively have impact on the lives of the people.
He also called on members of the party and supporters across the constituency to remain united and committed towards achieving collective success in the forthcoming election.

Encomiums, have continued to pour in from political associates, media practitioners, youth groups, and supporters across Imo State following his emergence.
Meanwhile , the primary election attracted a large turnout of party members, supporters, and political stakeholders from across the constituency, underscoring growing political activities ahead of the 2027 polls.
Officials of the security agencies, party observers, and members of the media monitored the exercise, which was conducted in accordance with the party’s electoral guidelines, after the completion of the nomination process.
The exercise was as peaceful, transparent, and orderly, Party members who took turn to speak with our reporter , commended delegates and party members for their exemplary conduct throughout the process. demonstrated NDC's commitment to internal democracy and credible political participation they also praised the peaceful conduct of the primary election, highlighting the role played by security agencies, electoral observers, delegates, and party supporters in ensuring a smooth process.

On 29th May 2026, the NDC Owerri Federal Constituency House of Representatives Primary Election was held at Owerri West LGA Headquarters, Umuguma.
The exercise was peaceful, transparent, and monitored by party officials, delegates, and stakeholders as against those who did mid night voting on the 28th May 2026 contrary to the NDC party Chairman directives in Abuja.
RESULT AS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED BY THE RETURNING OFFICER:
1. UCHE ASOLUKA JNR "MR FIX IT 2027" - 938 VOTES = 98.2% from total of 955
TOTAL VOTES CAST: 955

I humbly accept the mandate of the 938 delegates who voted for competence, capacity, and a better Owerri Federal Constituency.
We have requested the official result sheet from party officials and await same. In the interest of transparency, we are releasing this for public records.

Throwing more highlight Hon. Asokuka said" :
Evidences has also emerged on how an illegal midnight primary was conducted on 28th May, 2026, hours after the NDC National Working Committee cancelled the exercise and postponed it to 29th May by direct order of the National Chairman, there are video evidences showing a nocturnal gathering of party officials on May 28th where delegates were excluded, in clear violation of the Electoral Act 2022.
This confirmed the reason NWC officials absconded on 29th May, 2026, when 955 accredited delegates assembled at Owerri West LGA Headquarters, Obinze, in obedience to the National Chairman’s directive.
Faced with abscondment, delegates appointed an Ad-hoc Returning Officer and peacefully conducted the election. Results from Owerri North, Owerri West, and Owerri Municipal LGA HQs: where , I got 938 VOTES (98.2)
NDC National Secretariat has received a 72-hour ultimatum on 1st June demanding ratification of the May 29th result and sanction of officials involved in the midnight exercise..We are asking our party to obey its National Chairman and reject fraud. 955 delegates cannot be disenfranchised because some officials did midnight election. Owerri has spoken,” he emphersized.
Meanwhile , Lawyers to Hon. Asoluka Jnr already submitted a petition to INEC Imo State with evidences of both the alledged midnight primary and the May 29th election.
Efforts to reach the above mentioned persons at the time of filing this report proved abortive.
