... Says it's most strategical political move

The convener of The Mazi Organization (TMO), Dr. Chima Amadi has expressed his interest in contesting both the Owerri zone Senate and Imo State Governorship position.

Amadi made this disclosure during a press briefing, addressed on his behalf, by The Mazi Organization (TMO) in Owerri, Tuesday. The address of the organisation at the press briefing was read by its Director General, Hon. Henry Onwukwe.

The organisation made it clear that, given the unique structure of Imo's off-cycle governorship election, which follows the general elections by nearly a year, the approach will enable it to provide clarity, direction and confidence to their supporters and the wider electorate.

"After careful deliberation, broad consultation and strategic evaluation of the political terrain, we wish to formally inform Ndi Imo that Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu) has taken a deliberate and well-considered decision to contest both the Owerri Zone Senate seat in the January 2027 general elections and the Imo State governorship election later in November 2027, under the platform of the Action Peoples Party (APP)".

The organisation said the decision was not borne out of uncertainty; rather, it is one rooted in clarity of purpose, political realism, and a deep commitment to building a durable and winning movement.

"The structure of Imo's electoral calendar presents both a challenge and an opportunity. Unlike most states, where political momentum builds uniformly toward a single election cycle, Imo requires sustained engagement across two critical phases. Our decision reflects an understanding of this reality", it enthused.

The organisation listed advantages and opportunities the prospect of its boss running for Senate first and governorship later will provide it to include; helping it to deepen grassroots mobilization across all local government areas, ensuring that their message reach every Ward before the governorship election.

Help it to provide immediate and visible leadership to its supporters and candidates, strengthening party cohesion and discipline, establish a strong institutional and political foothold at the federal level, which will enhance its capacity to advocate for Imo people and influence national policy.

Build a broad coalition of stakeholders, aligning interests early and consolidating support ahead of the governorship race.

It added, "This is not fragmentation; it is consolidation. It is not confusion; it is coordination, a tested and proven political approach".

The organisation made it clear that the strategy is not unprecedented  in Nigerian politics, given instances of where it has worked in the past, including most recently in Bayelsa and Edo States

The organisation further maintained that Owerri Zone Senate seat is not merely a legislative position, but a strategic political anchor.

"Historically and structurally, whoever secures this seat enters the governorship race with significant momentum, visibility, and legitimacy".

It called on its supporters, party faithful and the good people of Imo State not to  see the venture as two separate pursuits, but as one continuous journey that begins with representation at the Senate and culminates in transformational leadership at the Douglas House.

"We call on Ndi Imo to stand with us, to support this strategy,

to mobilize across communities,

and to be part of a defining moment in our state's history", the address concluded.
