The Imo State chapter of the Action People’s Party (APP) has declared its intention to reshape the State’s political landscape, promising to inject “fresh blood” into governance as part of its build-up to the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Friday during the Party’s maiden media interactive session in Owerri, the State Chairman, Hon. Ernest Njesi, said the APP is positioning itself as a credible alternative focused on people-oriented leadership and sustainable development.
The session, held at the Party’s State syecretariat along Aladimma axis, brought together key Party stakeholders, including zonal chairmen from Owerri and Okigwe, the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Cajethan Duke, as well as other members of the executive.
Njesi reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to strengthening democratic values through transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness. He stressed that the APP’s agenda is anchored on policies designed to improve the standard of living of Imo residents.
According to him, the Party’s structure is witnessing steady expansion at the grassroots level, a development he said reflects growing public acceptance and confidence in its vision.
“We are building a formidable platform that is not only capable of winning elections but also delivering quality governance to the people of Imo State,” he said.
The Chairman further assured that the Party would present credible candidates with the requisite experience and educational background to drive effective governance.
On security and economic development, Njesi identified the protection of lives and property as a top priority, alongside efforts to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. He noted that revitalising the State’s economy remains central to the party’s blueprint.
Also speaking, the Party’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Uche Nwosu, cautioned against the spread of misinformation about the Party, reaffirming its legal standing and warning detractors against attempts to undermine its credibility.
The APP leadership said preparations for the 2027 elections are already underway, with plans to unveil new programmes and initiatives in the coming months.
