The ISOPADEC Commissioner representing Owerri Zone and Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Fishery, High Chief Val Okere popularly known as Amadioha Ngor-Okpala has congratulated Hon. Chief Austin Onyedebelu on his emergence as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State chapter.

Onyedebelu was elected through a consensus arrangement at the Party’s State Congress held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Prior to his emergence, he served as Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC).

Describing the new Chairman as “a square peg in a square hole,” Okere said Onyedebelu possesses the mental capacity, experience, and leadership qualities required to reposition the Party for greater success.

According to him, the emergence of Onyedebelu from Orlu Zone has created a strategic political balance within the State, opening the door for Owerri Zone to produce the next governor of Imo State in 2027.

He expressed confidence that the APC remains the party to beat in the forthcoming general elections, noting that the Party continues to attract both grassroots mobilizers and seasoned politicians across the State.

Okere also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he described as his impartial and statesmanlike conduct during the congress, which he said ensured a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.

“The transparent and peaceful nature of the congress demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to internal democracy and party unity,” Okere stated.

He urged Party members to rally behind the new leadership to consolidate the gains of the APC administration in Imo State and strengthen the Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
