IMO STATE COMMAND REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SECURITY DURING FESTIVE SEASON AND BEYOND

The Imo State Police Command has reassured residents of sustained safety and security throughout the festive season and beyond, as part of its renewed drive to rid the state of criminal activities.
This assurance was given during a courtesy visit to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, the Officer in Charge of Operations, Imo State Command, and Commander of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
The meeting featured a robust and engaging discussion centered on enhancing operational tactics, intelligence-driven policing, and strategies aimed at strengthening public trust and cooperation with law enforcement.
ACP Odeyeyiwa, an experienced and highly exposed operational officer, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring that Imo State remains hostile to criminal elements. He emphasized that the Command will continue to intensify efforts to give criminals “sleepless nights” until crime and criminality are reduced to the barest minimum across the state.
He further disclosed that strict internal oversight mechanisms are in place within the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. According to him, officers are continuously monitored, with regular checks on detention facilities to ensure strict compliance with the law, including adherence to approved cell counts. This, he noted, is to prevent illegal detention and any form of extrajudicial treatment.
Reiterating the importance of accountability, ACP Odeyeyiwa assured the public that any officer found violating the rules of engagement will be promptly subjected to disciplinary measures through an orderly room trial.
He called on residents to actively cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information, stressing that effective policing is a shared responsibility. “The police is your friend,” he stated, encouraging citizens to report any misconduct by officers without fear.
The Imo State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of ongoing security efforts.
