The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has approved the payment of a ₦150,000 Christmas bonus to all civil servants in the state as part of efforts to enhance workers’ welfare and ease the burden of the festive season.

Governor Nwifuru announced the bonus during a service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, drawing applause from workers and other attendees. He stated that the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promise to improve the living standards of Ebonyi people, particularly public servants.

According to the governor, despite prevailing economic challenges confronting the state and the nation at large, his administration remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of workers.

“This season is a time of love, sharing and celebration. Our workers deserve to feel appreciated and supported, especially during this festive period,” Nwifuru said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to implement people-oriented policies and programs that would positively impact the lives of Ebonyi citizens, stressing that the wellbeing of workers remains central to his governance agenda.

The approval of the Christmas bonus has been widely welcomed by civil servants across the state, many of whom described the governor as worker-friendly and compassionate.

Since assuming office, Governor Nwifuru has continued to roll out welfare-focused initiatives, reinforcing the popular belief that effective leadership brings joy and relief to the people.
