It was a moment of political homecoming on Saturday, November 8, 2025, as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement, Rt. Hon. Nwanchor Paulinus Maduabuchi, in collaboration with the Ettam Ward APC Executives and the Ikwo Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Onuzu Sunday, received over one hundred defectors from opposition party, People's Democratic Party,PDP into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ettam Okpuitumo, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The defectors, drawn from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), were led by Mr. Nwankwo Stephen, who said their decision to join the APC was influenced by the numerous developmental strides of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, particularly in human empowerment, infrastructure, and peace-building initiatives across the State.

Addressing the new party members, Rt. Hon. Nwanchor assured them of equal opportunities and full integration into the APC family. He emphasized that the ruling APC remains a large and inclusive political family open to all, regardless of status or previous political affiliation.

He further encouraged the defectors to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a way of showing appreciation for the Governor’s people-oriented governance and to ensure their participation in future elections.

Nwanchor also highlighted several life-changing projects initiated by Governor Nwifuru across the State, including the recent approval for the construction of the Agubia–Eke Amagu–Nsuba Okpuitumo–Onuigberi–Abaomege Road, announced during the Amegu Erimogwudu Orinji Festival.

He also acknowledged the various constituency projects facilitated by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Member Representing Ikwo South Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ije Moses Odunwa, which have positively impacted the Ettam Ward.

The event had in attendance the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ije Moses Odunwa, who earlier commended the people of Ettam Ward for their continued support and assured them of more democratic dividends under the present administration.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the unanimous endorsement of Governor Nwifuru for a second term in office, with party stakeholders and community members pledging their total support for his re-election bid.

The well-attended event reaffirmed Ettam Ward’s commitment to the APC and to the continuation of Governor Nwifuru’s visionary leadership for sustainable development in Ebonyi State.
