A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, October 23, 2025, granted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) the authority to declare an Anambra State indigene, Ms. Okongwu Ukamaka Chidiogo, wanted over an alleged ₦300 million cryptocurrency fraud.
The decision followed the adoption of a motion earlier filed by the FBI after Ms. Chidiogo’s legal representatives failed to appear in court on two consecutive occasions to argue their application.
The reason for the repeated absence of her lawyers remains unclear. However, the court proceedings coincided with the highly publicized hearing involving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, which reportedly dominated court activities on the same day.
It will be recalled that Ms. Chidiogo had earlier instituted a case with suit No. CS/515/25 against Binance Holdings Limited and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the Federal High Court, Abuja, over an alleged ₦300 million investment in cryptocurrency trading.
In her Originating Application, Ms. Chidiogo claimed that she had invested the sum in a crypto trading venture through Binance Holdings Limited, which allegedly failed to yield any returns or refund her initial capital.
Following her lawyers’ absence, the court granted the FBI’s application, empowering the agency to declare her wanted in connection with the alleged ₦300 million cryptocurrency fraud.
