The Ebonyi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has launched a free 24-hour Ambulance Service to tackle emergency health cases within Abakaliki Capital City.
The service, coordinated by the Ministry of Health, can be accessed by dialing the toll-free hotline 112 or 08127989346 for immediate response in critical situations.
Emergencies covered include pregnancy-related complications, child health crises for those under five, snake bites, gunshot wounds, and road traffic accidents.
Governor Nwifuru also extended the initiative beyond Abakaliki, with Ohaukwu and Ivo Local Government Areas benefiting from standby ambulances manned by five drivers per ward, ensuring around-the-clock coverage.
In addition, patients conveyed in these ambulances are entitled to 48 hours of free medical treatment, fully sponsored by the State Government.
The Governor noted that the intervention is strategically designed to reduce maternal and infant mortality, and to provide timely care during life-threatening situations.
Residents have been cautioned to dial the emergency hotline only in genuine cases, to prevent abuse of the life-saving service.
Governor Nwifuru emphasized that his administration remains committed to breaking barriers to healthcare access, assuring Ebonyians of continuous investment in health and welfare initiatives.
