ADC Oguta Chairman,Oziri Debunks Claims of Strategic Meeting Led by Dr. Obodo

The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Hon. Oziri Chidi, has publicly refuted recent claims suggesting that Dr. Louis Nonye Obodo held a strategic meeting with ADC executives in the LGA.

The rebuttal comes in response to a report published on July 15, 2025, by John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, titled “Obodo’s Engagement with ADC Oguta Executives Sparks Momentum Across Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency.”

In an official press statement released on  Thursday 17th July,2025, Hon. Chidi dismissed the publication as a "deliberate misrepresentation of facts" aimed at creating a false narrative around Dr. Obodo’s political standing within the party.

“No strategic meeting of ADC Oguta executives was convened by Dr. Louis Nonye Obodo on July 14,” Hon. Chidi stated emphatically. “The only meeting held was on Sunday, July 13, at Ejemekwuru, and it was convened under my leadership.”

According to the ADC chairman, Dr. Obodo attended the gathering in Ejemekwuru merely as a prospective member and not as a leader or convenor. He further clarified that no endorsement, leadership role, or strategic responsibility was conferred on Dr. Obodo at the meeting.

Hon. Chidi also revealed that a follow-up meeting proposed by Dr. Obodo to be held at Rento Hotel in Owerri was unanimously rejected by ADC executives and ward chairmen. The reason, he said, was to maintain the party’s focus on grassroots mobilization rather than "elitist meetings" that could alienate committed local party members.

“ADC Oguta is grounded in community engagement. We are not swayed by media stunts or flashy gatherings disconnected from our political realities,” he emphasized.

Chidi noted that for over two years, the operational and logistical responsibilities of the party in Oguta have been sustained by long-standing party supporters and not by recent entrants.

He accused unnamed individuals of attempting to distort the party’s history and internal dynamics through misleading media portrayals.

“While ADC welcomes all who share our values, we reject any attempt to hijack the party through media manipulation. Commitment is demonstrated by consistent sacrifice, not publicity,” he said.

In a strong message to party loyalists and the general public, the ADC Oguta chairman reiterated the party’s dedication to inclusiveness, internal democracy, and strategic organization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He called on the media to be responsible in their reportage and avoid being used as tools for political misinformation.

“ADC belongs to the people. It is not a platform for personal ambition or political theatrics,” Chidi concluded.

The statement marks a firm stance by the ADC leadership in Oguta LGA to protect the party’s integrity and resist any perceived attempts at external control or misrepresentation.
