The youth body of Amanator Okporo Autonomous Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State known as Akwakuma General Youths Assembly has exonerated Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers Chairman,HRM Eze E. C. Okeke from an alleged steady attack and demolition of their Community market known as "Eke Akwakuma Market.
Mr. Ukachukwu Oguegbe, the Chairman of the youth body told journalist via cellphone over the weekend that Eze Okeke remains their father, adding that they cannot afford to issues with him hence he earlier played fatherly in ensuring that the Market stands.
He however disowned the recent newspaper publication accusing Eze Okeke of responsible for attack and demolition of their Community Market, querying why a publication should be credited to him without his consent.
"I am not aware of a current petition addressed to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State through the State Director of DSS. I'm currently outside Eastern part of the country. Truly,Alawuba family has land within the Market, and we no issue with him. All we want,is the progress of our Community Market ",he stated.
Recall that the youth body had earlier authored a publication that read,"a petition addressed to Imo State Governor,His Excellency,Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma through the State Director of DSS by Akwakuma General Youths Assembly which was signed by Mr. Ukachukwu Oguegbe(Chairman) and Chinedu (Public Relations Officer) read,"we, the youths of Amanator Okporo in Orlu Local Government Area wish to report for the second time, the activities of the youths of Amaifeke through instructions of Eze Okeke against our Community Market called Eke Akwakuma which no boundary with Amaifeke, the Kingdom of the Eze Imo. Sometimes on Monday 17th June,2024, we woke up and saw Amaifeke youths with guns and matches numbering more than fifty attacked and destroyed our Community Market. Upon arrival, they told us that they were sent by Eze Okeke to bring our Market down, that whosoever challenge them should be gunned down, that nothing will happen since he is the current Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Community Policing. They destroyed our entire Market, and we wanted to go for a reprisal attack, but we were prevented by some of our Community notable leaders,Hon. Emmanuel Odidika and our PG Chief John Egeolu".
The petition dated 9th June,2025 further read,"we then borrowed money a lot of money to rebuild the entire Market and continued our businesses.
Unfortunately,on Monday 26th May,2025,youths of Amaifeke were in our Market again telling us that Eze Okeke sent them to come and recover our Market for one Oliver Alawuba, the CEO of UBA land inside our Community Market which is strange to us, insisting that Eze Okeke said that whoever challenges them should be taken to "Ebubeagu"local security outfit.
We called on the attention of the leadership of our Community again and informed them about the fresh attack".
The youth body of Amanator Okporo called on the Executive Governor of Imo State,His Excellency,Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to call Eze Okeke and his thugs to order before they bring his good governance to moud.
While, they also appreciated Imo State Government for approving their Community Market.
